GETTING A PRIVATE BLOOD TEST IN MANCHESTER

Everything you need to know about the costs, walk-in clinic options and what to expect from your blood test.

A lot of people think a private blood test means waiting days for the results. At our Manchester clinic, results typically come back the same day or the next. You can book a same-day appointment at 87 Bridge Street or simply walk in. No GP referral is needed.

You might be weighing up the cost, how the visit works and whether you can just turn up. This page covers:

  • What you pay at the Manchester clinic, including the £35 clinic charge
  • How to book or walk in, and what to expect on the day
  • Answers to the questions we hear most often

No scare tactics here, just clear answers. If you already know which test you want, you can book your Manchester appointment now.

WHY PEOPLE CHOOSE ONE DAY TESTS FOR BLOOD TESTS IN MANCHESTER

You may feel nervous about the process itself. The Manchester team sets out to make every visit calm and supportive, especially for people who feel that way. Our venipuncture nurses are skilled in traditional blood collection and in finger-prick (capillary) testing. As you can imagine, the finger-prick option helps if you have challenging veins or a sensitivity to needles.

Having said that, comfort is only part of it. You get the same tests your GP would order, without a referral. Behind the clinic sits our state-of-the-art laboratory, which is CQC regulated and EQA verified. It processes over 100,000 biomarkers every month. If a standard test does not cover what you need, we can help you build a custom panel.

For anyone who likes to check the paperwork, here it is.

  • CQC - Our parent company, Sussex Pathology Limited, is regulated by the Care Quality Commission (certificate number 1-14470761199).
  • UKAS - Our laboratory is accredited as Medical Laboratory No. 29041 and meets the current ISO 15189:2022 standard.

BLOOD TESTS AVAILABLE AT OUR MANCHESTER CLINIC

Our Manchester clinic offers our full range of blood tests, from routine health checks to specialised tests. There are over 300 biomarkers to choose from. You can pick a single marker, or an in-depth panel such as the Ultimate Longevity or Ultimate Performance test. If you are targeting particular symptoms, or an organ such as the liver or kidneys, the Quick Finder can help you choose.

For a broad overview in one go, the Ultimate Performance Test is the most popular in our range. It reports on 57 biomarkers, including micronutrients and vitamins, thyroid, hormones, organ function and cholesterol. The Ultimate Longevity Test is the largest we do, at 71 biomarkers. Depending on the test and your preference, your sample is taken from a vein or by finger-prick.

So with the big panels covered, what else is there? Here is a selection of other tests, with the number of biomarkers in each and how long results usually take.

HOW IT WORKS

Planning ahead for your visit is simple. Here is how it goes.

  1. Pick your test - Choose a single biomarker or an in-depth panel. If you are not sure, the Quick Finder narrows it down by symptom or organ.
  2. Book or walk in - Book a same-day or later appointment online, or walk in. The clinic is open Monday to Friday, 7.30 am to 3.30 pm. The £35 clinic charge applies either way, and it covers sample collection for all your tests on the day.
  3. Come to Bridge Street - The clinic is at 87 Bridge Street, Manchester, M3 2RE (view map). There is car parking nearby, along with transport links, and the clinic has disabled access. An experienced phlebotomist takes your sample, from a vein or by finger-prick. Children aged 5 to 16 can be tested with a GP private referral letter (instructions here).
  4. Get your results - Once your sample is processed in our lab, your results arrive by email as a secure, password-protected PDF. This is typically on the same day or by the following day. If you subscribe, you also get unlimited access to the Health Dashboard, where you can track your results over time.

BOOKING YOUR BLOOD TEST IN MANCHESTER

Pick a date and time on our Manchester clinic page and you are booked. You will be asked for a phone number to confirm the booking. If you would rather not plan ahead, walk in Monday to Friday between 7.30 am and 3.30 pm.

The £35 appointment and clinic charge covers sample collection for all the tests you have on the day. The tests themselves are not included in the charge, so add them to your basket separately.

Can I get a same-day blood test in Manchester?

Yes. You can book a same-day appointment at 87 Bridge Street, or walk in while the clinic is open, Monday to Friday, 7.30 am to 3.30 pm. Results typically arrive by email on the same day or by the following day. A few tests take longer, so check the turnaround time on the test page.

Do I need to go through my GP first?

No. You do not need a referral to be tested at our Manchester clinic. We offer the same tests your GP would order, and you can book or walk in directly. The one exception is children aged 5 to 16, who need a GP private referral letter.

Can I do the test at home instead of visiting the clinic?

Yes. If a clinic visit does not suit you, we offer at-home sample collection kits. Our home kits are CE/MHRA marked. Having said that, the clinic is there whenever you would rather a phlebotomist took the sample for you.
