HOW THE WEIGHT LOSS TREATMENT WORKS

If you are eligible, you will be prescribed with a choice of weight loss injections.

The dosage of these injections will be tailored to you based on your assessment results and weight loss objectives. The dosage will be reviewed on a monthly basis and posted out to you with clear instructions included.

Weight loss injections regulate appetite by making you feel full, which leads to reduced food intake. They also help the body to use insulin more effectively which is beneficial for managing blood sugar levels.

MEASUREMENTS WE TAKE FOR ELIGIBILITY

The rules for prescribing GLP-1 medication are well defined and simple.

The main criteria is your BMI calculation, which is a formula that uses your height and weight.

During your free eligibility appointment, we will measure:

  • Your height in cm
  • Your weight in kg
  • Your systolic blood pressure
  • Your diastolic blood pressure

If your BMI is 30 or over, there are no further qualifying conditions, apart from any conditions that prohibit the use of GLP-1 medication, such as liver or kidney disease.

If your BMI is between 27 and 29.9 then eligibility is not automatic, you need to have one of the following conditions:

  • Hypertension
  • High cholesterol
  • Obstructive Sleep Apnoea
  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Fatty Liver Disease
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Pre-diabetes
  • Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

You can inform us of these conditions during your free appointment.

ENSURING MEASUREMENT ACCURACY

We understand that the eligibility criteria is largely based on a formula, so we make sure that the measurements we take are as accurate as possible.

All of our clinics are equipped with specialist medical scales, which are calibrated to UKAS standards.

This ensures that our measurements are extremely accurate.

Please note, that we will only use our own measurements and equipment in calculation of your BMI, to ensure accuracy.

Is the clinic appointment to check I am eligible for the medication free?

Yes! There is no cost for checking if you are eligible for our weight loss medication subscription service.

Simply book your free clinic appointment here at one of our nationwide clinic locations to check whether or not you are eligible.

What happens during my free clinic appointment to check my eligibility for the weight loss medication service?

Once you arrive at your appointment, our phlebotomist will:

  • Check your ID - please note that we cannot complete an eligibility assessment if you do not bring along the correct photo ID with you.
  • Check your weight using our medical grade scales
  • Measure your height
  • Measure your BMI
  • Check your blood pressure

If you meet the eligibility criteria, our phlebotomist will then collect a blood sample from your arm (a venous draw) for your free baseline blood test.

Your blood samples will then be sent directly to our laboratory for testing.

What form of Identification do I need to bring along to my clinic appointment?

You must ensure that you bring one of the following types of photo ID with you to your appointment:

  • Passport
  • Driving License
  • Biometric Residence Permit
  • EU Photo ID Cards
  • HM Forces or Police ID cards
What if I forget to bring my photo ID with me to my clinic appointment?

If you do not bring your photo ID with you to your appointment, we will not be able to carry out an assessment of your eligibility for our weight loss medication programme.

Why do I need to have a blood test before I can access the weight loss medication?

We want to make sure that it is clinically safe for you to begin taking weight loss medication.

Our baseline blood test will help us check key indicators of your kidney and liver health before you begin taking the weight loss medication.

This will help our GPs to assess whether the medication is having any adverse side effects on your kidney and liver function when you come to repeat this blood test at 3 month intervals.

What is included in the blood test?

The baseline blood test covers your kidney and liver function.

This is because in rare cases, GLP-1 weight loss medications can lead to kidney damage, especially if you have pre-existing kidney disease.

Do I need to do anything to prepare for my clinic appointment and blood test?

Yes. Once you have booked your clinic appointment, you will receive an email with instructions of what you need to bring along with you and how to prepare for the blood test.

Please ensure you bring along the correct ID with you to confirm your identity, We will not be able to check your eligibility for our weightloss service without this.

To ensure that we are able to collect a blood sample from you during our appointment (if you meet the programme eligibility criteria) please ensure that you are well hydrated and that you wear appropriate clothing so that our phlebotomist is able to access your arms easily to take your blood sample.

You do not need to fast before the blood test.

What happens if I do not meet the eligibility criteria?

If you do not meet the eligibility criteria you will not be eligible for the free baseline blood test.

However, you would still be able to pay for any one of our other blood tests if you would like to have one.

Our phlebotomist would  take the payment for your preferred test and would collect your blood sample from you.

I  was told I was eligible and then had my blood sample taken at my clinic appointment. What happens next?

Your blood sample will be sent to our laboratory for testing. As soon as your test has been processed by our laboratory you will receive your test results by email. You will then receive an email with instructions on how to set up your subscription and pay for your first month.

As soon as you have set up your subscription with us, you will receive an email with a link to book your 15min online appointment with our weight loss prescriber.  We have daily appointment slots available Mon-Fri.

During your initial online consultation, our prescriber will go through your blood test results with you and ask you about your medical history to confirm that it is clinically safe for you to begin weight loss medication. They will also provide you with instructions on how to safely take your medication.

We would then process your prescription and ship the medication out to you directly. You should expect to receive your medication within 2-3 working days after your consultation.

Why do I have to have an online consultation before I can access the medication?

Your health and wellbeing is extremely important to us. As there are risks and potential side effects of taking GLP-1 weight loss medications, we want to make sure that it is clinically safe for us to prescribe it to you.

The online consultation is also an important opportunity for our team to be able to provide you with the information you need about taking the medication and the potential side effects so that you can make an informed decision on whether you would like to go ahead and begin taking the medication.

It will also be an important opportunity for you to ask us any questions or raise any concerns you have about going onto weight loss medication.

What other options do I have if I am not eligible for weight loss medication?

We work with a range of fantastic nutritionists and exercise specialists who will be able to support you in setting and meeting your nutrition and weight loss goals.

Click here for more information about our fantastic partners and to book an online consultation with them.

I am already taking the medication with another provider. Can I switch to you?

Absolutely!  We would still need to carry out an assessment of your eligibility for our weight loss medication programme by making an appointment for a fee assessment at one of our nationwide clinic locations.

I am already taking the medication, can I start with the same dose I am on now?

Your clinical safety is our priority so if you do meet the eligibility criteria our clinical team will assess the best dose to continue on.

Our team would then increase your dose during the programme where it is clinically safe to do so - which they would determine via your monthly check-ins.

I am breastfeeding, can I take the medication?

GLP-1 weight loss medications are not recommended while breastfeeding.

GLP-1 medication affects blood sugar and metabolism, and it’s unclear if or how it could be transferred into breast milk or impact a nursing baby. The data of the safety of using these medications while breastfeeding is limited and so we would not prescribe it to you if you are breastfeeding.

If you are concerned about your weight while breastfeeding, you can book a consultation with one of the nutritional experts and/or our personal trainers we partner with who can help you with setting and achieving your weight loss goals without medication.

I have just had a baby, is it safe for me to take GLP-1 weight loss medication?

This will depend on a few things such as whether or not you are breastfeeding.

GLP-1 medications are not currently recommended during breastfeeding because we don’t have enough safety data. Also, these medications may pass into breast milk and could affect your baby.

It would also depend on how recently you gave birth.  Your body is still recovering, especially in the first 6–8 weeks. It’s important to stabilize any hormonal changes and make sure you’re healing well before starting weight loss meds.

During your online consultation with our prescriber, they will be able to advise on whether GLP-1 medication would be clinically appropriate for you to take - based on the above (i.e. whether you are or planning to breastfeed and how recently you gave birth) along with your medical history.

How do I sign up for the subscription weight loss service?

If you meet the eligibility criteria, we will collect a blood sample from during your clinical appointment to complete your blood test.

As soon as you have received your blood test results (which you will receive by email) you will receive an email with instructions on how to sign up for our weight loss medication subscription service.

As soon as you have signed up, you will receive a link to book your Online consultation with our prescriber who will review your blood test results and medical history and providing they have no clinical concerns, will then order your first month's supply of medication and provide you with instructions on how to take the medication.

If, at your online consultation, our prescriber feels it is not safe to proceed, your money will be refunded to you.

Do I have to sign up for a subscription to access weight loss medication?

Yes. We want to ensure that it remains clinically safe for you to continue taking the medication after you have begun taking it.  To do this, you will need to have a monthly check-in - by completing an online questionnaire - so that our prescribing team can assess whether it is clinically safe for us to issue your next dose and/or increase it.

It is also important to check whether or not the medication is having any adverse effect on your liver and/or kidney health via repeat blood tests and GP reviews. Both are included as part of your monthly subscription.

Will my subscription fee increase if my does goes up?

No.  It will stay the same even if your dose increases.

How can I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel at any time. Please contact our Customer Services team to request this.

Does my subscription include blood tests and GP consultations?

Yes. As part of your subscription, you will be entitled to:

  • A repeat of your baseline blood test (liver and kidney) every 3 months
  • An Online consultation with one of our GPs every three months (which you will be able to book once you have completed your blood test)
How do I book my 3 monthly (i.e. quarterly) blood tests?

You will receive an automated email every three months with a link and instructions on how to book your blood test at one of our clinics.

How do I book my 3 monthly (i.e. quarterly)  online GP consultations?

You will be able to book your 3 monthly GP appointments once you have completed your 3 monthly blood test.

Once you have received your blood results, you will receive an email with a link and instructions on how to book your Online GP consultation appointment.

How quickly will I receive my medication?

Once our prescriber confirms with you that you can begin taking weight loss medication with us (which they will do during your online consultation appointment) you should expect to receive your first month's supply of medication within 3-4 working days.

How do I get my next month's supply of medication?

Each month, we will email you a link to complete an online questionnaire to check how you are getting on with the medication and for information on any side effects you may be experiencing.

You will be asked to complete this questionnaire as soon as you have taken your last injection for the month (i.e. your 4th pen).

Once you submit your questionnaire response, it will be reviewed by our prescriber to check whether it is safe for you to continue with the medication and whether we can increase your medication dose.

If it is, our prescriber will process your prescription and ship your next month's supply out to you.

It is important that you complete the questionnaire as soon as you have taken your 4th does to allow sufficient time for our team to review your response  and to process and ship out your next month’s supply so that you do not have any gap in your medication.

We will not be able to issue your next month's supply if you do not complete your check-in questionnaire as instructed and delays in submitting it will lead to delays in  receiving your medication.

What are the monthly check-ins and how do I do them?

Each month, we will email you a link to complete an online questionnaire to check how you are getting on with the medication and for information on any side effects you may be experiencing.

You will be asked to complete this questionnaire as soon as you have taken your last injection for the month (i.e. your 4th pen).

Once you submit your questionnaire response, it will be reviewed by our prescriber to check whether it is safe for you to continue with the medication and whether we can increase your medication dose.

What happens if I do not complete my monthly check in?

It is important that you complete the questionnaire as soon as you have taken your 4th dose to allow sufficient time for our team to review your response  and to process and ship out your next month’s supply so that you do not have any gap in your medication.

We will not be able to issue your next month's supply if you do not complete your check-in questionnaire as instructed and delays in submitting it will lead to delays in  receiving your medication.

Can I get my next dose early if I am planning to travel or go on holiday?

Yes. You can request an earlier delivery of your next month's supply of medication if you are planning to travel.

However, we would still need to ensure that you are getting on well with your medication at the dose you are taking before we can bring forward your next month's medication.

You would need to contact our customer services team once you have taken your second dose of medication for the month.

This would allow time for you to see how you are getting on with the dose you are on and for you to complete our monthly check-in so we can also assess whether it is clinically appropriate to move you up to the next dose.
