GETTING A PRIVATE BLOOD TEST IN LEICESTER

Everything you need to know about the costs, walk-in clinic options and what to expect from your blood test.

Many people assume each blood test means a separate appointment fee. At our Leicester clinic on De Montfort Street, the £35 clinic charge covers sample collection for all the tests you have on the day, whether that is one test or several. You can book an appointment or walk in, no GP referral is needed, and many tests have same-day results.

You're probably wondering what the tests themselves cost, where to park and how the visit works. This page covers:

  • The £35 clinic charge and what the tests cost on top
  • Where we are on De Montfort Street, when we are open and how to walk in or book
  • The questions we are asked most often

If you already know which test you need, book your Leicester appointment now.

WHY PEOPLE CHOOSE ONE DAY TESTS FOR BLOOD TESTS IN LEICESTER

Our Leicester clinic, like our clinics throughout the UK, is open to anyone who prefers professional assistance with their blood sample, needs results urgently, or has tests marked as venous only. Our experienced medical team makes the visit comfortable and stress-free, and our state-of-the-art laboratory and phlebotomy facilities let us perform a broad range of diagnostic blood tests to the highest medical standards.

Having said that, you will want to know the results are reliable. The tests are the same as those offered by your GP, and they are processed in the same regulated diagnostics laboratory. Every biomarker explanation is provided by our in-house UK GPs, who have years of experience in the field. If you are not sure what you need, get in touch, give us a call and speak to a human, or email [email protected].

For anyone who likes to see the credentials, here they are.

  • Regulated - Our pathology laboratory and phlebotomy clinics are CQC registered. Our parent company, Sussex Pathology Limited, holds certificate number 1-14470761199.
  • Quality checked - All of our tests undergo stringent external quality assessment routines, and our home test kit is MHRA/CE certified.
  • Scale - We test over 100,000 biomarkers every month in our laboratory.

BLOOD TESTS AVAILABLE AT OUR LEICESTER CLINIC

Our modern, fully equipped Leicester clinic covers routine and specialised testing, with over 300 biomarkers to choose from. You can test specific biomarkers, such as calcium or oestradiol, or order a comprehensive panel that tests many biomarkers at once, some with more than 50. You can also pick tests by symptom, or check a body function such as liver or kidney function.

The pre-designed panels people choose most are the Full Blood Count, the Diabetes (HbA1c) Test, the Cholesterol Test and our popular Essential All Systems Blood Test. The most popular test across the whole range is the Ultimate Performance Test at 59 biomarkers, and the largest is the Ultimate Longevity Test at 74.

On that same note, the way the sample is taken is up to you and the test. A qualified phlebotomist takes your blood from a vein, or from a capillary if you prefer, and the clinic is the ideal option if you would like professional assistance, your tests are marked venous only, or you need your results quickly. Here is a selection of other tests available at Leicester, with biomarker counts and usual turnaround.

HOW IT WORKS

The process is simple. Here is how a visit to Leicester goes.

  1. Choose a blood test - Pick a single biomarker, a comprehensive panel, or a test matched to a symptom or body function. The Quick Finder helps if you are unsure.
  2. Book, or walk in - Book an appointment at a time that suits you, or simply walk in for a same-day visit. The clinic is open Monday to Friday, 8 am to 2 pm. The £35 clinic charge applies to walk-ins and bookings alike, and it covers sample collection for all your tests on the day.
  3. Come to De Montfort Street - The clinic is at 9 De Montfort Street, Leicester, LE1 7GE (view map). It has disabled access, and parking is available. A qualified venipuncture nurse takes your blood from a vein, or by finger-prick if you prefer or have difficult veins. Children aged 5 to 16 can be tested with a GP private referral letter (details here).
  4. Receive your results - Your results arrive by email as a secure, password-protected PDF, usually the same day your sample reaches our lab or the next day. Some specialist tests take longer, so contact us first if your tests are time-sensitive. You can print your results and take them to your GP, and you get free access to the Health Dashboard, where you can see your results as graphs, read the commentary on each biomarker and see how it falls within the reference range.

BOOKING YOUR BLOOD TEST IN LEICESTER

Open our Leicester clinic page, pick a date and time, and you are booked. Adding a mobile number is optional, and we only use it if your appointment changes, never for marketing. If you would rather not plan ahead, walk in Monday to Friday between 8 am and 2 pm.

The £35 appointment and clinic charge covers sample collection for all the tests you have on the day. Blood tests are not included in that charge, so add the ones you want to your basket separately. If you plan to test regularly, a subscription gives you discounts on future tests, with home kits or clinic appointments at a frequency of your choice and the option to pause or restart.

If you need a custom panel, or you have a question before booking, get in touch or email [email protected]. We run our own laboratory and can build any panel you like.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions about our clinic.

How much is a private blood test at Leicester?

You pay the £35 clinic charge plus the price of the tests you choose. The charge covers the phlebotomist taking your sample for all your tests on the day. Prices are shown on each test page.

Where in Leicester is the clinic?

At 9 De Montfort Street, Leicester, LE1 7GE. We are open Monday to Friday from 8 am to 2 pm, the clinic has disabled access, and parking is available. You can view the clinic on the map before you set off.

How do I book a blood test in Leicester?

Choose your tests on our website, then pick a date and time on the Leicester clinic page. No GP referral is required. If you would rather not book, walk in Monday to Friday between 8 am and 2 pm for a same-day visit. Children aged 5 to 16 need a GP private referral letter.

Can I test at home instead of visiting the clinic?

Yes. If a visit does not suit you, we offer a home sample collection kit, which is UK MHRA approved. However tests marked venous only need a sample taken from a vein at the clinic, and the clinic is the better choice if you need your results quickly.
