GETTING A PRIVATE BLOOD TEST IN HIGHGATE

Everything you need to know about the costs, walk-in clinic options and what to expect from your blood test.

A lot of people assume a private blood test will be expensive. At our Highgate clinic, single tests start from £29, with a £35 clinic charge for taking the sample. No appointment is necessary, although we recommend one, and no GP referral is needed. Many results are ready the same day.

You're probably wondering what the total comes to, where the clinic is and how quickly you can be seen. This page covers:

  • The £35 clinic charge and what the tests cost on top
  • Where to find us on Crouch End Hill, when we are open and how to walk in or book
  • The questions we are asked most often

No scare tactics here, just clear answers. If you already know which test you need, book your Highgate appointment now.

WHY PEOPLE CHOOSE ONE DAY TESTS FOR BLOOD TESTS IN HIGHGATE

You might be wondering whether a private test is any different from the one your GP would arrange. The tests are the same ones your GP orders. They are processed in the same fully regulated diagnostic laboratories, and you do not need a referral. Our experienced medical team carries out every test in a comfortable and stress-free environment.

So with the tests out of the way, what about making sense of the results? Every biomarker explanation is prepared by our in-house UK GPs, each with years of clinical experience. If you would rather talk to someone before you book, call 0127 309 2844 and speak to a human.

For anyone who likes to see the credentials, here they are.

  • Regulated - Our pathology laboratory and phlebotomy clinics are CQC registered. Our parent company, Sussex Pathology Limited, holds certificate number 1-14470761199.
  • Accredited - Our laboratory is UKAS accredited as Medical Laboratory No. 29041 to the current ISO 15189:2022 standard.
  • Checked - Every test undergoes rigorous external quality assessment, and our home test kits are MHRA/CE certified.
  • Scale - We test over 100,000 biomarkers every month in our laboratory.

BLOOD TESTS AVAILABLE AT OUR HIGHGATE CLINIC

The Highgate clinic offers our full range of blood tests, routine and specialised, with over 300 biomarkers to choose from. You can test a single marker, such as calcium or oestradiol, or order a comprehensive panel covering many biomarkers at once, some with more than 50. You can also pick tests by symptom, or check a body function such as liver or kidney function.

The pre-designed panels people choose most often are the Full Blood Count, the Cholesterol Test and our popular Essential All Systems Blood Test. For the widest picture in one go, the Ultimate Performance Test is the most popular test in our range, with 59 biomarkers, and the Ultimate Longevity Test is the largest at 74.

On that same note, some tests require a venous sample, and our phlebotomists can also take a finger-prick capillary sample if you prefer. Here is a selection of other tests available at Highgate, with biomarker counts and usual turnaround.

HOW IT WORKS

The process is simple. Here is how a visit to Highgate goes.

  1. Choose a blood test - Pick a single biomarker, a comprehensive panel, or a test matched to a symptom or body function. The Quick Finder helps if you are unsure.
  2. Book, or just come in - Book an appointment online, or walk in. The clinic is open Monday to Friday, 8 am to 2.30 pm, and same-day testing is always available. The £35 clinic charge applies to walk-ins and bookings alike, and it covers sample collection for all your tests on the day.
  3. Find us inside Thandy's Footsteps - The clinic is at 60 Crouch End Hill, London, N8 8AG (view map), inside Thandy's Footsteps. A qualified phlebotomy nurse takes your sample from a vein, or by finger-prick if you prefer or have difficult veins. Children aged 5 to 16 can be tested with a GP private referral letter (details here).
  4. Receive your results - Your results arrive by email as a secure, password-protected PDF, usually the same day your sample reaches our lab or the next day. Some specialist tests take a little longer, so get in touch first if timing matters. You can print your results to share with your GP, and you get complimentary access to the Health Dashboard, where you can view your results as graphs, read the commentary on each biomarker and see how it sits against the reference range.

BOOKING YOUR BLOOD TEST IN HIGHGATE

Open our Highgate clinic page, pick a date and time, and confirm with your phone number. An appointment is recommended, but you can also walk in Monday to Friday between 8 am and 2.30 pm.

The £35 appointment and clinic charge covers sample collection for all the tests you have on the day. Blood tests are not included in that charge, so add the ones you want to your basket separately. If you plan to test regularly, a subscription gives you discounts on future tests, at a frequency of your choice, with the option to pause or restart.

If you need a custom panel, or you are not sure what you need, call us on 0127 309 2844 or email hello@onedaytests.com. We run our own laboratory and can build any panel you like.
