GETTING A PRIVATE BLOOD TEST IN CHISWICK

Everything you need to know about the costs, walk-in clinic options and what to expect from your blood test.

A lot of people assume a private blood test means paying for a big panel you do not need. It doesn't have to. At our Chiswick clinic you can book a single biomarker test, such as TSH or ferritin, or a comprehensive panel if you want the full picture. Either way, you can book a same-day appointment or walk in. No GP referral is needed.

You're probably weighing up what it costs, when the clinic is open and how fast the results come back. This page covers:

  • The £35 clinic charge, plus what single tests and panels cost
  • Opening days, parking and how to walk in or book
  • The questions we are asked most often

If you already know what you need, book your Chiswick appointment now.

WHY PEOPLE CHOOSE ONE DAY TESTS FOR BLOOD TESTS IN CHISWICK

You may want to know what sits behind the results before you trust them. Here is the short version. We stick to Care Quality Commission regulations and BSI/ISO 15189 standards, and we keep a close eye on our testing equipment and outcomes. On top of that, we take part in the nationwide BioRad EQA scheme, which gives our results an extra layer of validation.

Having said that, standards are only half of it. You get the same tests your GP would order, with no referral. If you are not sure which test you need, you can call and speak to a friendly member of the team, who will guide you through the process. If you need something that is not on the list, our own laboratory means we can create any panel you need.

For those who like to check the paperwork, here it is.

  • CQC - Sussex Pathology Limited, our parent company, is regulated by the Care Quality Commission (certificate number 1-14470761199).
  • UKAS - Our laboratory is accredited as Medical Laboratory No. 29041 to the current ISO 15189:2022 standard.
  • Scale - We are trusted to do more than 100,000 tests and consultations every month.

BLOOD TESTS AVAILABLE AT OUR CHISWICK CLINIC

The Chiswick clinic offers a comprehensive range of blood tests, with over 300 biomarkers to choose from. You can pick a single biomarker or a panel, and some panels cover more than 50 biomarkers. Tests can be chosen by symptom or by body function, for example liver or kidney function. The Quick Finder helps if you are undecided.

Examples include the Full Blood Count, the Cortisol Test and the Ultimate Performance Blood Test, which reports on 59 biomarkers and is the most popular test in our range. The Ultimate Longevity Test is the largest, at 74 biomarkers.

As you can imagine, some tests need a venous sample. These are marked "venous only" and are taken from a vein by our phlebotomist. For other tests you can choose capillary sampling if you prefer it. So with that covered, here is a selection of other tests, with biomarker counts and usual turnaround.

HOW IT WORKS

The process is simple. Here is what happens, step by step.

  1. Choose a blood test - Pick a single biomarker or a comprehensive panel. You can search by symptom or by body function, or use the Quick Finder.
  2. Schedule your appointment - Book a same-day or later slot at the Chiswick clinic online, or walk in. The clinic is open Wednesday to Friday, 8 am to 2.30 pm. The £35 clinic charge applies to walk-ins and booked appointments alike, and it covers sample collection for all your tests on the day.
  3. Come to Heathfield Terrace - The clinic is at 2 Heathfield Terrace, Chiswick, London, W4 4JE (view map). There is roadside pay and display parking, and the clinic has disabled access. A professional venipuncture nurse takes your sample from a vein, or by finger-prick if your tests allow it and you prefer that. Children aged 5 to 16 can be tested with a GP private referral letter (instructions here).
  4. Receive your results - Your sample is processed promptly once it reaches our lab. In most cases your results are emailed the following day as a secure, password-protected PDF. Some tests take longer, so check in advance if your results are time-sensitive. If you subscribe, your results also update automatically in the Health Dashboard, which you can open from any smart device.

BOOKING YOUR BLOOD TEST IN CHISWICK

Open our Chiswick clinic page, pick a date and time, and enter your phone number to confirm. Keep in mind that the clinic runs on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays only, from 8 am to 2.30 pm, so walk-ins need to fall on one of those days too.

The £35 appointment and clinic charge covers sample collection for all the tests you have on the day. Tests are not included in that charge, so add the ones you want to your basket separately. If you test regularly, a subscription gives you reduced rates on all future tests, with no minimum number of tests required.

If you need a custom panel or a bit of guidance, get in touch and a friendly member of the team will talk you through it.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions about our clinic.

Can I walk into the Chiswick clinic without an appointment?

Yes. The Chiswick clinic takes walk-ins as well as booked appointments on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, 8 am to 2.30 pm. The £35 clinic charge is the same either way. If you need a different day, our other London clinics also take walk-ins.

What will I pay at the Chiswick clinic?

The £35 clinic charge plus the price of the tests you choose. The charge covers the phlebotomist taking your sample for all your tests on the day. Test prices are shown on each test page. As a guide, here are three examples.

How quickly will I get my results?

Typically the same day or the next day. In most cases your results are emailed the following day as a secure, password-protected PDF. Some tests need extra processing time, so check in advance if timing matters to you.

Can I book a test myself without a GP?

Yes. No GP referral is necessary for a One Day Tests appointment. You choose the tests you want on our website, then book a slot at Chiswick or walk in. The one exception is children aged 5 to 16, who need a GP private referral letter.
