FERRITIN BLOOD TEST
A Ferritin Blood Test measures your levels of ferritin, a blood protein responsible for storing iron in the body. This biomarker provides valuable insights into your iron reserves. An abnormal level of ferritin, whether higher or lower than the reference range, can indicate underlying health conditions that warrant further investigation.
It is important to note that ferritin is distinct from iron itself, which is a mineral found in red blood cells. Ferritin acts as a reservoir, releasing iron when the body requires it.
