FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is TRT safe?
Yes, when prescribed and monitored properly TRT is a safe treatment.
In fact there is an increasing evidence base showing the health benefits of TRT in men with TD.
To ensure that it is safe you will need regular blood tests and review appointments.
These are included in the price of your subscription.
Is it legal to buy TRT online?
Yes, but only via a prescription from an appropriately qualified medical professional.
Can I increase my testosterone levels without medication?
Yes, testosterone levels can often be increased by weight loss, increased exercise, reduced intake of alcohol and recreational drugs such as cannabis, or reduced use of prescription medications.
Why do I need two blood tests to diagnose Testosterone deficiency (TD)?
UK guidelines advise that TD should be confirmed by two separate blood tests as hormone levels fluctuate throughout the day and from day to day.
The second blood test also screens for other hormonal issues, helps to assess for cardiovascular risk and ensures that it is safe for you to use TRT should you need it.
Can I ever stop TRT?
Yes, but the symptoms of TD that you experienced before starting treatment may return.
How will my TRT be monitored?
We monitor your total testosterone level and full blood count every three months to ensure your dosage is correct.
Are there side effects of TRT?
As with any medication, there are potential side effects to TRT but these are minimised by safe prescribing practices and regular monitoring.
Mild side effects include fluid retention, acne, excess body hair growth, and increased urination.
Some men may experience gynaecomastia (development of breast tissue) and reduction in testicular size.
Men who wish to have children should not use TRT as it can reduce fertility.
TRT can also cause an increased number of red blood cells which can make the blood more ‘sticky’ which is a risk for blood clots and strokes.
It is for these reasons that TRT should be closely monitored.
Is TRT appropriate for professional athletes?
No, TRT is prohibited for professional athletes.
CLINICAL RELEVANCE AND CONFIRMATION
Testosterone deficiency (TD) is an increasingly common problem. Estimates vary as to its prevalence but some studies estimate up to 40% of older men are affected, with rates of testosterone deficiency tending to be higher in men who suffer from other medical problems such as obesity or Type 2 Diabetes. TD is often not recognised as men are sometimes reluctant to complain of the symptoms, and clinicians often do not consider it as a diagnosis.
TD can cause symptoms of erectile dysfunction, low libido, fatigue, low mood and loss of muscle bulk. You can check to see if you may have symptoms of low testosterone using a simple questionnaire.
TD can be screened for with a simple finger prick blood test. If the initial test shows low testosterone levels then more detailed follow up blood tests will help to determine whether you might benefit from treatment.
TD can be treated in a number of ways. Your need for treatment, and the option that might suit you best, can be discussed with one of our clinicians who are trained to deliver TRT.
Our service includes all follow up blood tests and review appointments to ensure that your TRT is safe and effective.

TESTOSTERONE LEVELS & TESTING: THE COMPLETE GUIDE
A common belief about testosterone is that it boils down to your sex drive. A higher sex drive can indicate more testosterone but you’ll soon find out that it does much more than that. It helps you with other factors like building muscle mass, increasing bone strength, improving your energy and your overall mood. Your levels will also naturally change as you get older. One number on its own on a blood test doesn't tell you much. A "normal" result can still come back with symptoms. On that same note, a result outside the range doesn't always mean something is wrong. What matters is the full picture of your age, symptoms, as well as the blood result.Read now -
