WHY PEOPLE CHOOSE ONE DAY TESTS FOR BLOOD TESTS IN CROYDON

You may be asking how a private test compares with the one you would get through your GP. The tests are the same. They are run in the same kind of regulated diagnostic laboratory, and you can book any of them whenever you like, with no referral. We aim to process most tests on the same day they reach the lab.

So with the tests themselves out of the way, what about understanding the results? Every biomarker explanation you receive is written by our in-house UK GPs. Our experienced medical professionals also make the visit itself comfortable and stress-free. If you are unsure what you need, give us a call and speak to a human, or email hello@onedaytests.com.

For anyone who wants the credentials in black and white:

  • CQC - Our pathology laboratory and phlebotomy clinics are CQC registered. Our parent company, Sussex Pathology Limited, holds certificate number 1-14470761199.
  • UKAS - Our laboratory is accredited as Medical Laboratory No. 29041 to the current ISO 15189:2022 standard.
  • Quality checked - Every test goes through stringent external quality assessment routines, and our home test kits are MHRA/CE certified.

BLOOD TESTS AVAILABLE AT OUR CROYDON CLINIC

There are over 300 biomarkers to choose from at the Croydon clinic. You can test one marker, such as homocysteine or oestradiol, or order a comprehensive panel, some of which cover more than 50 biomarkers. You can also check a particular body function, such as liver or kidney function, or start from your symptoms with our symptoms search.

Ready-made panels people often choose include the Full Blood Count, the Advanced Diabetes Test, the Cholesterol Test and the popular Essential All Systems Blood Test. The most popular test across our whole range is the Ultimate Performance Test, with 59 biomarkers. The largest is the Ultimate Longevity Test at 74.

On that same note, a word about sample types. Our nurse can take blood from a vein or help you with a capillary sample if you prefer. Some tests are recommended as venous only, and a venous sample is always the quicker route. Here is a selection of other tests, with biomarker counts and usual turnaround.

HOW IT WORKS

The process is simple. Here is what to expect from start to finish.

  1. Choose a blood test - Pick a single biomarker, a comprehensive panel, a body function check or a test matched to your symptoms. The Quick Finder helps if you are unsure.
  2. Choose a time, or walk in - Book an appointment online, or walk in during opening hours. The clinic is open Monday to Friday, 8 am to 2 pm, and same-day appointments are available. The £35 clinic charge applies to walk-ins and bookings alike, and it covers sample collection for all your tests on the day.
  3. Come to Overton Yard - You will find us at The Wellness Therapy Centre, 3 Overton Yard, Croydon, CR0 1SL (view map). The closest car park is Q-Park Surrey Street, and the clinic has disabled access. A skilled phlebotomist nurse takes your blood from a vein, or helps you with a finger-prick sample if you prefer or have difficult veins. Children aged 5 to 16 can be tested with a GP private referral letter (details here).
  4. Receive your results - Your results arrive by email as a secure, password-protected PDF, usually the same day your sample reaches our lab. Some biomarkers need longer processing time. You can print the file and take it to your GP or healthcare provider, and you get free access to the Health Dashboard, where each marker comes with descriptive commentary and you can see how your results sit against reference ranges over time.

BOOKING YOUR BLOOD TEST IN CROYDON

Open our Croydon clinic page, pick a date and time, and confirm with your phone number. If you would rather just turn up, walk in Monday to Friday between 8 am and 2 pm.

The £35 appointment and clinic charge covers sample collection for all the tests you have on the day. Blood tests are not included in that charge, so add the ones you want to your basket separately. If you plan to test more than once, a subscription gives you discounted rates on future tests, with home kits or clinic appointments as often as you choose, and you can cancel, pause or restart at any time.

If you need a custom panel, or you are not sure what you need, get in touch and speak to a human. We run our own laboratory and can build any panel you like.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions about our clinic.

Where in Croydon can I get a same-day blood test?

At our clinic in The Wellness Therapy Centre, 3 Overton Yard, Croydon, CR0 1SL. Same-day appointments are available, and you can walk in Monday to Friday between 8 am and 2 pm. Results are usually ready the same day your sample reaches our lab. The closest car park is Q-Park Surrey Street.

What will I pay at the Croydon clinic?

The £35 clinic charge plus the price of the tests you choose. The charge covers the phlebotomist taking your sample for all your tests on the day. Prices are shown on each test page. As a guide, here are three examples.

How do I book a blood test at the Croydon clinic?

Choose your tests on our website, then pick a date and time on the Croydon clinic page and confirm with your phone number. You do not need a referral, and you can book any test the laboratory offers. If you would rather not book, walk in during opening hours instead. Children aged 5 to 16 need a GP private referral letter.

Can I test at home instead of visiting the clinic?

Yes. If a visit does not suit you, we offer a home sample collection kit, which is UK MHRA approved. Having said that, some tests are recommended as venous only, and the venous route is always the quicker one, so the clinic is the better choice when you need results in a hurry.
