OSTEOCALCIN BLOOD TEST
The osteocalcin blood test measures the levels of osteocalcin, a protein produced by osteoblasts, the cells responsible for bone formation. Osteocalcin plays a key role in bone metabolism, helping to regulate the balance between bone building and bone breakdown. Because of this, the test is used as a marker of bone turnover, particularly to assess bone formation activity.
