C-REACTIVE PROTEIN BLOOD TEST
CRP stands for C-reactive protein, which is a protein produced by the liver in response to inflammation. The CRP biomarker test, also known as the high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) test, measures the level of CRP in the blood. This test is often used as a marker of inflammation in the body.
Inflammation is a natural response of the immune system to infections, injuries, and certain diseases. However, chronic or prolonged inflammation is linked to various health conditions, including cardiovascular diseases (such as heart disease and stroke), autoimmune disorders, and some cancers.
