DRUG ABUSE URINE TEST
This drug abuse urine test is a broad screening panel for commonly misused drugs and certain controlled medicines. It looks for evidence of recent exposure to opiates, methadone, cannabinoids, barbiturates, cocaine metabolite, benzodiazepines and amphetamines.
It is most often used by organisations that need objective information to support safeguarding, clinical monitoring, risk management, fitness to work discussions, or structured substance misuse support. Urine testing helps identify recent use or non prescribed use, and can also support adherence monitoring where relevant (for example, methadone programmes).
Results are reported as detected or not detected. A positive screen indicates the substance (or its metabolite) has been found, but it does not prove impairment, timing of use, or intent. Prescribed medicines and some over the counter products can influence results, so medication disclosure is important. Where appropriate, confirmatory testing can be arranged to reduce the risk of false positives
