DR. ADAM STATEN - GP VIEW AND RED FLAG SYMPTOMS
Creatine Kinase (CK) is an enzyme protein, mostly found in your heart tissue, skeletal muscles and in the brain. Appropriate levels of CK are essential for healthy muscle work in the heart and body movement.
Reference ranges
If your indicative creatine kinase level is lower than the reference range for our laboratory:
Low CK levels in blood are normal and are not usually a cause for concern.
You can discuss these results with your GP.
If your indicative creatine kinase level is higher than the reference range for our laboratory:
Elevated levels of CK can point to an injury or disease of the muscles, heart, or brain, specifically muscular dystrophy, inflammation of skeletal or heart muscles, strokes, or brain injuries.
Please discuss this result with your GP.
