About the test
The kidney blood test is one of the most commonly performed tests by doctors and will let you know how well your kidneys are working. This is the more comprehensive version of our Kidney Function Blood Test and has 8 biomarkers.
Your kidneys perform many functions including removing waste products from the blood, regulating levels of electrolytes in the blood, and regulating blood pressure. Kidney function tests are amongst the most commonly performed tests by doctors because, not only do they indicate your state of health, but the health of your kidneys will guide decisions on which medications may or may not be right for you. This test also measures your ‘estimated glomerular filtration rate’ or eGFR.
Kidney disease can cause abdominal symptoms such as loss of appetite of nausea.
Please note that Potassium is only offered in the clinic version of the test, potassium is very unstable and needs to be in the laboratory the same day - it is not included in the home kit version of this test.
Not all results falling outside of the reference range require medical intervention, please consult your GP.
