What is Pre-Diabetes?
The idea of pre-diabetes is a relatively new concept and reflects a more pro-active approach to the identification of those at risk of diabetes and a more pro-active approach to the prevention of diabetes. By identifying pre-diabetes, we gain the opportunity to act, the opportunity to reverse the trends of rising blood sugar that will eventually lead to diabetes.Read now -
Vitamin B12
Like all vitamins, B12 is a substance that our body can’t make for itself but needs in small but vital amounts that we get from our diet. Dr Mike Forsythe on Hair Loss and Its Causes
A few months ago, a male patient of mine proudly declared that he believed there to be only 3 certainties in life; death, taxes and losing one’s hair. He had made his peace with his new found baldness, but for many people hair loss can be very distressing.Read now -

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a frightening term. The idea of a chronic disease attacking your vital organs is very unsettling, but CKD is actually very common. Tired All the Time? Causes of fatigue, diagnostics blood tests and treatment.
The complaint of feeling tired all the time is unfortunately very common. It is so common in fact that, if I type the letters TATT into my system at work, the computer will automatically convert this to read ‘tired all the time’. It is a pervasive and sometimes debilitating complaint that may have a serious underlying cause or may have no obvious cause at all.Read now -
Anaemia: Causes, Symptoms and Treatment

The Thyroid: Metabolic Command Centre
The thyroid gland sits at the front of the neck and is often described as ‘butterfly shaped’. This little gland is incredibly important. Fatty Liver Disease: A Silent Pandemic and the liver function blood tests
In Fatty Liver Disease, fat builds up in the liver in the same way as fat builds up elsewhere in the body. This can affect liver function and Fatty Liver Disease is the most common cause of abnormal liver function tests. For many people the condition may remain stable and may cause no symptoms but, in a minority of people, inflammation of the liver develops, and this can progress to cirrhosis (permanent scarring of the liver), liver failure, liver cancer, and eventually death.Read now
