About the Advanced Metabolic Panel Blood Test
This advanced metabolic panel test assesses the balance of electrolytes in your blood, along with blood glucose levels, kidney function, and liver performance. It’s perfect for monitoring gym performance and for those who are health-conscious about their exercise routines.
The balance of electrolytes in our blood is crucial for accurate nerve and muscle function, maintaining heart rhythm, and supporting numerous essential metabolic processes. While disruptions in electrolyte levels may sometimes present no symptoms, severe imbalances can lead to life-threatening conditions. Between these extremes, a variety of symptoms can arise, varying in significance, based on the severity of the imbalance and the specific electrolyte affected. This test measures levels of sodium, potassium, chloride, and calcium.
Also measured is the level of the waste product creatinine, from which we can calculate the health of your kidneys (which is given as the eGFR). The kidneys are very important in keeping the balance of electrolytes in the blood stable so kidney health and normal electrolyte levels are bound closely.
In addition to the standard Metabolic Panel Blood Test, the advanced version tests the health of your liver. The liver is so important to your overall health, but also because electrolyte abnormalities can occur in liver disease, particularly in the later stages of the disease. Our Advanced Metabolic Panel Blood Test looks at liver enzymes such as alanine transferase (ALT) to indicate how well the liver is functioning and whether it is inflamed or damaged.
And lastly, blood sugar levels are checked, in the form of glucose which is the body’s energy source. A change in levels of glucose may indicate diabetes or pre-diabetes.
